Point 3: Funding for repatriation to Africa

Point 7 calls for an African knowledge programme to build connections between Caribbean people and their African heritage. This overlaps with Point 4 on cultural knowledge and Point 3 on repatriation.

Cultural and educational exchange between African and Caribbean communities has genuine value and is already happening through various academic and civil society channels. Whether it requires a specific reparations-funded programme or can be developed through existing cooperation mechanisms is a practical question. The underlying aim, strengthening cultural connections between communities separated by the slave trade, is sympathetic.
