No serious survey of British Caribbean opinion on reparations has found overwhelming support for the CARICOM campaign. Opinion within the community is divided, as it is in any community on any contested political question.
Some British Caribbean people support reparations strongly. Some are indifferent. Some actively oppose the campaign, either because they do not trust Caribbean governments to use any money wisely, or because they believe the campaign damages race relations in Britain, or because they simply do not identify their interests with those of people in the Caribbean who they may never have visited.
The reparations campaign speaks as if it represents all Caribbean people globally. It does not. It represents the governments of CARICOM member states, which have their own political and financial interests that may or may not align with the interests of ordinary Caribbean people, whether they live in the Caribbean or in Britain.
